Data Center Cooling

Overview

Glycol plays a crucial role in data center cooling by serving as a heat transfer fluid in liquid cooling systems. Data centers generate significant heat due to the high density of servers and computing equipment, requiring efficient cooling solutions to maintain optimal performance and prevent overheating. Ethylene glycol (EG) or propylene glycol (PG) are commonly mixed with water in chilled water loops to enhance thermal conductivity, prevent freezing in low temperatures, and inhibit corrosion within cooling systems. Glycol-based cooling is especially beneficial in data centers located in colder climates, where it helps maintain consistent cooling performance year-round. By improving heat dissipation and system reliability, glycol-based cooling helps ensure uninterrupted operation and energy efficiency in modern data centers.
